Cultural Theory states that there are four Myths of Nature, namely Nature Benign, Nature Tolerant, Nature Ephemeral and Nature Capricious. Myths of Nature can be regarded as archetypal worldviews, which reflect the perception of the vulnerability of nature and the environment. Each of these Myths of Nature is associated with a preference for a distinct strategy for managing environmental risks. In this paper de relationship between Myths of Nature, general management strategies, and measures aimed at reducing energy use in traffic and transport is examined.
