The aim of the symposium is to discuss and increase awareness of the conditions, concepts and methods which might be applicable when women are participating in local and regional planning and development. The background of the symposium lies in a series of international conferences in the 90s the issue of which was EuroFEM - Gender and Human Settlement network and a Toolkit for mobilising women into local and regional development (Horelli - Booth - Gilroy, 1998). The EuroFEM Toolkit, which will be available in English and French, consists of 50 techniques for different phases and purposes of development. Also the conditions and politics of successful involvement will be discussed.
