This study aimed to observe the influence of a set of behavioral and environmental interventions on premature babies, on the neonatal unit' s staff and the parent's uptake of follow-up appointments. The findings show that the intervention significantly reduced the mean number of days in hospital, the time spent in the incubator, and tube feeding. This study demonstrates the value of using low-cost techniques adaptable to the Brazilian reality, which facilitate the baby's integration with his/her environment.
