The paper presents a research carried out in order to explore the man-environment relationship with emphasis on how farmer's environmental attitudes influence the conservation of the ecosystems within the space they manage. Thus, the case study is focused on the way farmers interact within their agriculture activities with the riparian ecosystem adjacent to their farm. The results of this study bring to light that distinct environmental attitudes and behaviours are closely linked to the variable 'residence', distinguishing here by two different subgroups, namely those of the 'rural' and 'urban' farmers.
