The aim of the study is to describe the specificity of mothers'perceptions of their living environment according to daily life with young children. Data from sixty-six employed mothers of two-year-old children were gathered in two contrasted samples : inner city Paris and a new town in the suburb of Paris. Data analysis were carried out with a specific software applicated to statistical processing of textual data : Alceste (Reinert, 1986). The three clusters extracted from the corpus of semi-structured interviews were related to : (1) residential environment related to family plans. (2) location of housing related to residential history (3) daily moving in urban context : constraints and need to escape. The third cluster was significantly associated to mothers living in inner city Paris.
