"The paper demonstrates how environment and behavior studies have been employed in a conservation project in the historic part of Cairo, Egypt. I conducted a "lifestyle assessment" inquiry to uncover the area's perceived values. Design intervention would then be geared towards maximizing and preserving the perceived positive aspects and minimizing the negative ones. This integrative inquiry would also guide the formulation of strategies of implementation that are compatible with the residents' priorities and affordability."
