This research aims at investigating if and how categorial organization of knowledge about everyday life places influences memory a specific environment. In the first part of the research we examined how subjects form environmentS categories (such as buildings or rooms), while in the second part the relation between category membership of places and memory for them was investigated. Data were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively.. Results are discussed -on the basis of previsions derived from the distinction between place aspects conforming or not conforming to the prototypical image.
