This paper deals with the elderly in the central neighborhoods of TelAviv. It is based on structural interviews with a sample of 384 people aged 60 and over. Most are veterans in the area, and are satisfied with their neighborhood despite the fact that it has been changing. Most are familiar with the people they meet, and over half have intensive social ties in the area. The majority consider the neighborhood to be a safe area and only a third are afraid to go out at night.
