In parallel with the rapid and distractive alteration of natural environments in and arround the urbanized areas in Japan, the attention of common persons to natural factors has been increased in these areas. The author has been interested in the cognition levels of common persons to natural factors in their environments and in the effects of the cognition on the estimation of the environment. She (1975, 1977, etc.) has already confirmed that the cognition of major factors like trees and bushes have distinct effects on the estimation of environments.
