"Aim of Study: The contributions of the architect J. Muntañola, and the philosopher P. Ricoeur to the understanding of the relations between the narrated time and the constructed space were considered for the study of several places located at different maritime fronts. These places offer an "ecological and historically sensible answer" (Muntañola, 2004), with multiple dialectic dimensions that allow a crossover between the past and the future, the natural and the artificial, the individual and the collective, the real and the virtual, where the old geometries take part in the new project. The examples shown came from different cultural groups that shaped their recreational and natural spaces from projects developed in the following locations: The Leça de Palmeira Coast, Portugal; Coast of the Greek city of Empúries, Spain; The coastal old town of Panama city, Panama Social history and natural environment: Human history shows that people are both the builders and the inhabitants of the space where they interact, setting the norms that rule it in order to achieve the desired equilibrium. Because of the sensorial capabilities the human beings are gifted of, it is possible to project both time and space, aware of the relations between the social history and the natural environment. However, there are external factors, such as natural disasters and war conflicts that may alter the social and physical conditions of the space, leading to changes in places where the greatest interactions of life take place (Ricoeur, 2003). Relations between physical and natural environment : This is an attempt to direct the attention to the importance of these places of life, where the relations between the physical and natural environment and the society represent the dialogue that originates each project. Considered as good examples of a sustainable architecture, these projects try to rescue and maintain the balance between the memories and the identity of the transformed place. Pre-figuration, configuration and re-figuration of the architectural project: Analysis of the logic configuration of the social and physical thresholds of these places allows the architect to establish the concept of project pre figuration, aiming at creating architecture capable to "remain in place" and "within time"(Muntañola, 2004), aware of the historical and ecological complexity of the territory, in other words, architecture that can be reached, enjoyed and used by its inhabitants. The present study research try shows the application of concepts commonly used in the design process: Creation, associated with perception and project cognitive development (Prefiguration). Construction, the project materialises as a "synthesis of the heterogeneous"(P. Ricoeur). (Configuration) And the lecture, as a result of the social use of the constructed project (Refiguration). "
