"In two simultaneous studies we analyzed psychosocial components of Brazilians point of view about wind power, especially after the construction of an eolic plant on the Atlantic north-eastern coast of the country. In Study 1, we investigated the meanings associated to the expression ""energy from the wind"" by students of high school and college levels. The main difference we found between environmental and nonenvironmental careers was the larger amount of vocabulary of the environmental group. Study 2 explored the perception of the wind farm by nearby residents. The interviews have shown practically no connection between their daily lives and the ""towers"", which are positively valued for their beauty and modernity. Such cordial and apathyc acceptance expresses their need for a clear knowledge about ecologically sustainable forms of energy and their implications to local quality of life."
